Incidence of cardiac sarcoidosis in those with extra-cardiac disease without known cardiac involvement - a CMR study
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background Cardiac death is the leading cause of mortality in patients with sarcoidosis. However, the incidence of cardiac sarcoidosis in those with extracardiac disease has yet to be formally examined. Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging with late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) may identify the myocardial infiltration of cardiac sarcoidosis (CS), and thus allow risk stratification of these at risk individuals. We therefore investigated the incidence of CS in patients with extracardiac sarcoidosis without cardiac manifestations using CMR-LGE.

Detection of myocardial damage in patients with sarcoidosis.
BACKGROUND In patients with sarcoidosis, sudden death is a leading cause of mortality, which may represent unrecognized cardiac involvement. Delayed-enhancement cardiovascular magnetic resonance (DE-CMR) can detect minute amounts of myocardial damage. We sought to compare DE-CMR with standard clinical evaluation for the identification of cardiac involvement. METHODS AND RESULTS Eighty-one con...
متن کاملFrequency of Congenital Heart Disease in Neonates with Extra Cardiac Anomalies
Background Diagnosis of congenital heart disease (CHD) in neonates with extra cardiac anomalies is effective in their clinical management and surgical outcomes. This study aimed to investigate the frequency of CHD in neonates with extra cardiac anomalies admitted to a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Material...
متن کاملFrequency of cardiac involvement among patients with Ankylosing Spondylitis
Background and aims: Ankylosing spondylitis (AS) is an idiopathic chronic inflammatory disease mainly involves sacroiliac and axial joints; but it may also have extra-articular involvement. Accordingly, this study was designed to determine the frequency of cardiac involvement among patients with ankylosing spondylitis. Methods: This study was performed as a descriptive-analytical cross-se...

Kawasaki syndrome is an inflammatory multiorgan disease of unknown etiology. The most dramatic organ involved is the heart. There were a few studies about cardiac involvement in Iranian pediatric cases of Kawasaki disease. The aims of this study were determination of cardiac involvement prevalence in Iranian children with Kawasaki disease and its comparison with other studies. 61 pe...
متن کاملDNA Damages on Blood Cells After Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Introduction: Along with the increased use of cardiac imaging at clinics there is increased attention to the potential risks related to the methods used like magnetic resonance (MR) and it cannot be ruled out that MR can alter DNA structure. The aim of this review is to assess the impact of routine cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) scanning on DNA damages in human T lymphocytes....
